Upcoming Crane Festival and Crane Viewing Tours Announced
Don’t know if you remember back in October, when I was going 80 down I80 on my way to Arizona. I had to stop somewhere in Nebraska for an overnight and for some reason I decided Kearney would be that place. Since I arrived at my pre-determined Comfort Inn a little early, I thought I’d stop in at the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary – a place that both my husband and our good friends said had huge numbers of cranes that made a stop there in the spring. I thought I’d check to see if they are there in the fall. Of course I found no cranes there since they only stop in the spring, but I had a wonderful afternoon checking out the preserve and wrote about it in my “Two Ways to Live” post.
Anyway, long story short, while I was talking with the gentleman behind the counter at the sanctuary, I signed up to be on their mailing list, thinking that it may be kind of fun to come back in the spring when the cranes were making their way back north. Well, I got an email the other day announcing the upcoming Audubon Nebraska Crane Festival from March 19 thru 22 and Crane Viewing Tours that are available from March 6 thru April 11. For more info visit the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary website.
I also wrote about Nebraska in general, in a post called “Nebraska? Who knew!” It kinda speaks to having pre-determined opinions about a place without ever having visited. This trip proved that there is beauty everywhere, you just have to look for it.
