The Natural Beauty of Arizona is Available!
Once I set my sights on writing this book, my heart was so into the subject matter and I was so excited about giving it a try, it seemed like the layout and design came quickly and the copy just seemed to write itself. But since then – over the past year – I’ve been spinning my wheels. The next steps took forever to develop, since navigating in the publishing world is so ridiculously complicated and, unless you already have a best-seller under your belt, it’s difficult to stay motivated long enough for it to become a reality.
With traditional publishing as my goal, I set out to establish my brand by creating this blog and entering photo contests, guest blogging, writing a proposal and imagining the marketing that would have to be done. Since traditional publishers make you jump through hoops to even give you the time of day, I worked with a woman who proofed my pages, gave me tips about the next steps and gave me lots of insight into what to expect in the coming months or years. I surfed the web endlessly to find some kind of help to navigate. Of course my shoestring budget didn’t help, since I was unwilling to spend thousands of our retirement dollars for a project I had no idea would turn out as planned. Finally, all my web-surfing paid off and I discovered CreateSpace by Amazon – a print-on-demand program where the profits are a little better than the norm and more importantly no money out of pocket. So far so good. Sales are starting to come in!
Although not the hard-cover, beautifully printed coffee-table book I had once hoped for, the soft cover is quite beautiful and laminated for a nice, glossy sheen and the interior pages are easy to read with an abundance of pretty pictures to illustrate the story – which all boils down to “Even with its prickly exterior, the desert is a beautiful place.” I’m very happy with it and I hope you will be too!
In this post are several photos that are in the book and you are welcome to “flip” through a couple of pages in the Sneak Peek of “THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF ARIZONA”, and then go to Amazon.com to ORDER your copy! If you’d like to save $4 (and who wouldn’t?), click on the coupon below, which will take you to my CreateSpace eStore. By entering the Discount Code BKER6TFS, you’ll save $4 on the spot, but the discount can only be used on the eStore, not at Amazon.com.
If you see any photos that you’d like made into prints – with or without a frame – check out my Zenfolio account and click on the Portfolio tab at the top to choose a location. Thanks so much for your support! Both for buying the book and for reading my blog. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my travels and hope to keep it up for many years to come.
