Life is Short.

Take Time to Travel.

Live vicariously through my travels while you’re in-between yours!

Vacations were a huge part of my childhood and now road trips keep us busy during retirement. We try to make the journeys as exciting as the destinations.

At the end of each trip, I always include a “recap” which includes what we saw, where we stayed, and a link to each post. My hope is to inspire you to use every one of your vacation days. Enjoy!

Our Latest Adventures

Posts from our 2026 road trip – aptly titled "The Spectacular Southwest" – are coming along. Follow my facebook page so you'll know when there's a new one. The "Eight State Getaway" series will continue once these posts are complete.

Please excuse the mess on older posts while I update my site.

  • On the Road to Red Wing

Lots of stops on this moving day entertained us along the Great River Road. We saw a bounty of bridges and an eagle adorned in silverware!

  • Excellent Tour Guides!

As our Great River Roadtrip continues in the Twin Cities, what could be better than a combination of great friends and the Mississippi River?

  • Our Inn on the River

With a winery, a wildlife refuge, a lock and dam, and plenty of trains (very close by) – our two-night stay in Trempealeau was just perfect.

  • Sunfish Capital of the World!

In this post we spend time in Onalaska amazed with the beauty of its lake and river views (and its Sunfish) en route to our next two nights.

  • More in La Crosse, WI

Our trip continues in La Crosse. Grandad Bluff, Pettibone Park, really big beers and a beautiful sunset by the river made this a perfect day.

  • GRR: La Crosse to St. Paul

We've been driving through La Crosse for years, but until this trip up the Mississippi, we've never spent much time here. Big mistake. Huge!
