Lighthouses

Today we visited Tybee Island for a lighthouse/museum, a sunset cruise, and a delicious seafood boil. What a great place to end this series!

This lighthouse has been through a lot in its 175-years: rebuilds, redesigns and a relocation from the hurricane-prone Cape San Blas.

We finish up our stay in Orlando in Mount Dora (and its light), then head to St. Marks to its National Wildlife Refuge (and its light).

With security clearance in hand, we left for Port Canaveral. It was a fabulous day, on the Port Canaveral Lighthouse and Spaceflight Tour.

Marathon finishes off our Keys stay. We'll be back soon to the gorgeous blue waters and the laid back atmosphere of this fabulous latitude.

Today we cruised the seventy miles of open water between Key West and Fort Jefferson in Dry Tortugas National Park (and had some beers).

Although I say it may be Vacations, "they" say Variety is the Spice of Life. If you’re into a little of this and that, this post is for you.

This post is chock full of gorgeous lighthouses! Along with the lights came fantastic views and birds, and just a little more history.

In this post we'll see Cape Cod Bay, Nantucket Sound, Barnstable Harbor, and the Atlantic Ocean. And you know what that means – lighthouses!

Today we're visiting the city of Racine, Wisconsin to get a double dose of Frank Lloyd Wright and to see another fabulous lighthouse.

After thirty-something years hauling-ass past Kenosha when driving to Chicago and beyond, we finally stopped. On a chilly day in November.

When we caught up with the news, we headed home the next day. This abrupt ending was much different than originally planned, that's for sure.

The weather was bleak but it was today or never. The lighthouse was not the star of the day, but lots of other things made this a great tour!

Nick-named the City of Seven Hills, this post covers St. Mary's Hill – home to a historic light station, a church, and spectacular views!

Port is a beautiful city with lighthouses and walks along the shore to experience the calm waters – or the thunderous waves of Lake Michigan.

We continue our tour of the Door with great buildings, goats on a roof, and the shopping and eating you've come to expect on the peninsula.

Don't expect to see all of the Door in a weekend. For shopping, a play, a few nature trails, and a round of golf, you'll need a lot more days!

We usually stay on the western side, but the eastern side of Door County is more relaxing with great lake views and interesting lighthouses.

A fabulous day at Newport State Park offers lots of great trails and some awesome Lake Michigan views, as well as a beautiful lighthouse.

This is Wisconsin's most isolated park – wooded and undisturbed. No cars or bikes are allowed, but 6.5 miles of trails will keep you busy.

This post is a mish-mash of random stuff on a scenic route to Door County, WI. I've included some traveling music to get your toe tapping.

Two State Parks offer the highest waterfall in WI and a gorgeous covered bridge over more fabulous falls. And they're just 20-miles apart!
