• So Long Snow Recap

Posts from our 2022 southwest winter trip are complete. This post provides an outline of where we went and links to posts about each stop.

  • In Transition

By definition road trips imply transition, but we usually like longer stays. From this point on, we have short stops in NM, TX, and even MO.

  • Phoenix Finale

After 2 days with friends in Sun City, we returned to Peoria for our last night. What could be better than a sunset cruise on Lake Pleasant?

  • Day Trips x4

We try to explore new and interesting things without driving too far, but sometimes we make exceptions. These were all exceptions, but worth it!

  • Gardens of Glass

A few of my favorite things converged on one amazing day into night – a botanical garden, a fabulous blown glass expedition, and family.

  • Movin’ on Up

We made a stop in Florence to see friends, where we explored a bit and joined in on some festivities! Our next stop was a Dwarf Car Museum.

  • In Search of Owls

Tucson has great restaurants, craft breweries, a dimly-lit bar in a former funeral home, a band shell made out of flowers, and an Owls Club!

  • San Xavier del Bac Mission

Sometimes cloudy days are a bummer, but today's grey clouds provided an ominous feel to my photos, at a place I have visited many times.

  • How About a Nice Game of Chess?

Once one of America’s most top secret places, this well-preserved missile site is now a National Historic Landmark, offering tours to millions.

  • Saguaro National Park

Between photo opps and narrow, winding roads, both sections of the park provided two days of entertainment and lots of pretty pictures.

  • The Old Pueblo

From our new digs in Tucson, today's journey was wonderful – up the Catalina Mountains for magnificent views from high above the valley.

  • The Wild West

Spending two nights in Sierra Vista set us up nicely for some day drinking, mine exploring, shopping, and yet another fantastic mission.

  • On a Mission x4

Today we visited four amazing missions south of the Alamo, where restoration continues to bring these historical settlements back to life.

  • Alamo City

A wonderful visit to the Pearl District included a snoop-around at the Hotel Emma, and a stroll on the northern end of the River Walk.

  • Some Time in N’awlins

Four days in NOLA included a city tour, a cemetery, beignets, a boat ride with Elvis, great food, lots of walking, and drinks on a carousel.

  • End of the Road Part Two

This post continues along the Mississippi to the literal end of the road, ALMOST to where the Mississippi flows into the Gulf of Mexico.

  • So Long Snow 2022

Our first stops were spent along the Mississippi. Plantations, traditions, history, and great seafood really got this road trip started!
